Not exactly sure if it's due to the Sync update I did recently or not but noticed yesterday my miles to empty was 240 . Drove to grandson's baseball game 30 miles away and got ready to leave and it's on 240 still. Then while driving home I noticed it wasn't going down at all , it started going up! Not a lot but by the time we got home it was at 245. I THINK the fuel tank display is working correctly but didn't really use all that much gas coming home. I'm going to fill up this morning and see if the gauge shows a full tank and if the miles to empty is working again. Should note that we stopped for lunch and it didn't reset and start working right.

If the trip was mainly highway compared to previous around town driving, I don't think it would be unusual since you're getting better mpg overall. The Instant Mileage display should also have gone up slightly. The Sync update shouldn't have any effect on this unless there was something in the update that modified the software for that feature.

Filled it up and it went to 381 and the gauge showed full. Was at 360 when we arrived . It still stayed on 360 for a long time on the way home but finally started going down and stayed down. I'm going to keep my eye on it but I've never noticed it before and we do mostly highway trips with this car. Just weird . I've never seen this before . And hopefully not again :)

I purchased “coding” software for my BMW and one of the settings was how often the mileage-to-empty recalculates based on current driving. Maybe the Ford update shortened the recalculation time period and your highway driving made more impact on the calculation.

It happened again this weekend . Driving up to Chicago to see my son. Started out with 220 MTE and halfway there was still at 218 . Then went to 216 up to 217 and then slowly started coming down. The fuel gauge works so can tell by that at least . I'll mention it to service desk when I take it in for next service

Going from in-town to highway driving I've seen this all the time. It is most noticeable on a full tank. MTE is calculated using the latest consumption rate, not the long-term average rate.

It's never on a full tank though. Once we fill it , seems to do better.

It is normal for the MTE to slow down and possibly even to go up when the vehicle is achieving better MPG like on the highway compared to in town/city driving. It depends a lot on the calculations/diving conditions that the MPG was based on.

Like RJT says above, happens to me all the time when my driving conditions change, even in the middle of a tank. Nothing to worry about.
