When I got Pickle, the driver's door mirror was smashed off.
Tim (vroomzoomboom) very kindly sent me one off one of his parts trucks....

However, when I went to wire it up, the plugs were different. The one I was putting in had a small round plug with 2 wires and the one I removed had a big plug with 5 wires.

Here's some pictures of what was removed

What's that little white plug for? Are my mirrors heated?

Odd- when I switched my mirror on Wedgie, I had a non-puddle lamp mirror on, and was replacing it with a puddle lamp mirror. The only difference was more wires in the round white connector.

Does it have the heated mirror logo on the mirror glass?

The other one doesn't appear to have the heated logo on it and there's no puddle light.

So, I think they've either put none heated glass in it and that's why I'm confused or something else is going on.... it's a 99 Sport with the overhead console, auto lights/dimming mirror etc....

Have you pulled the old mirror off yet? Even if it is heated (the white plug) the power mirror plug (round one) should work inside the door.

Yeah, the plugs are completely different sizes.... the one coming off is really big, the one going on is a lot smaller with only 2 prongs inside.

There isn't a matching white plug inside the door to match the plug on the mirror Tim sent? Not that one hanging out of the old broken one... That's weird...

the one that was plugged into the old mirror, is massive compared to the one Tim sent me, I'm back home now, so I'll have to wait till next week to get pictures, but the plug on the one Tim sent is literally the base model one with the small plug, so I'm guessing that mine must be heated, I'll pop the passenger glass off next week and have a look inside to see if there's a plug the same as the driver's side was.

If anyone has pictures of a heated mirror assembly with no glass in I'd be immensely grateful

Here's a pic of a 95 or 97 (not sure) power mirror, no puddle, no heat:

that's what I just put back in!

So maybe I've got heated mirrors... I'll know for sure at the weekend!

Si- have you thought about something like this maybe?

Fixed! (like your mirror could be!) :)

The assembly looks the same for both. The difference would be two extra wires plugging into the back of the glass for a total of seven within the plug for 99-01? with puddle lights. Standard should have five wires. The heated mirror should work fine on the standard housing. This info is based on the 99-01 eddie and limited.
Hit the defrost button and check the white plug. Maybe the previous owner wired it for heat.
