The wife is in another state with her lifted 2000 Explorer. She's running 33s. Long story short, one of the tires is bad so she threw a couple 31s on the front. I understand that this is not a good idea to run mismatched diameter tires, as it could cause auto 4x4 to engage. Is there an easy way to disable 4x4... a fuse that she can pull perhaps?

Sorry if I sound ignorant, but if I were there I might be able to figure it out. Without seeing the truck, I'm just guessing that there may be a fuse.

Look up Brown wire Mod....or BWM

what does the 4wd switch say on it?
if it is auto 4hi 4lo, the tires will cause the auto to kick in all the time, and that is hard on the system as the front driveshaft turns at the same speed as the back but the tire sizes are different,

take out the front driveshaft might work enough to get it home,

The switch is 4hi-4lo. I figure the 4x4 will try to kick in with the mismatch. Is there a fuse she can pull to stop the truck from sensing wheel speed, and therefore trying to engage 4x4?
