1996 Explorer XLT
I have a 1996 Ford Explorer V8 AWD and just had a ton of body work done to it. It looks like new. I just have to fix a few things. I noticed as soon as I had got it back, the truck had a shake or vibration. When I got to a stop light I noticed the truck had a vibration to it when just idling at the light. When I took off from the light, it felt as though it was missing as I was acclerating. The whole truck seemed to be shaking. Even crusing it doesn't feel right. The truck ran great before it went in the body shop. The shop also took about 3 weeks to fix it. Any idea if they could have hit something or anything? I had two new fender put on.

Thanks again

I doubt the body shop had anything to do with it.

When was the last time the spark plug wires were replaced? They usually only last 80-100,000 miles before they wear out.

Check engine light on?
Last time spark plugs were changed?
Fresh gas?
Check if intake and exhaust leaks too.

I have a few how to vid's in the link in my signature if you want to check them out.

Thanks for the reply. I had the ford dealership do plugs and wires at 126,000. She has about 138,000 now. On further inspection it looks as though they took my air filter and assembly off because the clamps were loose. I tightened everything up and disconnected the battery to reset the computer. Its still the same. What about a MAF? Could they have dropped it and now its messed up? Not sure if that would cause it to do this. Thanks for the info. Very useful videos.

Clean the IAC and MAF, both could be the problem.

Make sure no plug wires are touching the headers
