This is on my Moms 93 explorer. The passengers front radius arm (runs from the spindle to the rear of the car) bushing has crapped out. Apparently its a common problem as the Cat is right there so it heats up that one side. I went to the parts store, and they have one that is polyurethane which they said would hold up better to the heat. One question is if its ok to replace the passengers side with a ploy and keep the drivers side runbber (which is in perfect condition). Also will the poly radius arm bushing make for a harsher ride?

I personally would always change bushings on both sides.

And please do not double post.

A shop will change one side for you, but I recommend you change both at the same time and make them both the same material. This will provide for the most consistent ride. I have heard that a poly ride is softer and harsher than a rubber ride. I have rubber bushings and they ride just fine for me.,

I replaced my on Friday and you're right about the passenger side burning out like that. The heat from the cat (and the meager heat shield that is supposed to protect the bushing) killed the integrity of the rubber. Pieces were falling out all over the place when I took the nut off the bracket.

Thanks guys. Brian, you have a PM.

Alec, sorry for the double post
