1994 aerostar awd
well they said it couldn't be done.they said major lift is needed to install monster meat on an aero star. Can it be I have an awd aerostar and it has a factory lift I don't know. Our guru Brooklyn and Josh p will have to chime in. I went from a 215-70-14 all season to a big o big foot mud all season t/a truck tire 235-75-15. Here's the photos. No trimming or cutting my only thing that need to move was my passenger rear back fender brace. It must have been bent it's touching on the tire. But drivers side ok. I'm shot and need my wheel chair rest. I'll post as many photos the site allows. That's to Josh who supported me in this crazy idea. I got 2" of ground clearance. Despite the math. My spring purch was just under 7" before after its -10".

I'm no young man it took me 3 hours to change 4 tires and break out the tools. Haveing muscular dystrophy is a *****. No test ride today Norman around the block ok. No Baha'i to test suspension. It took work because I had to jack the body up with a sissors jack then put a bottle jack under the arms. Because the tire is 29" tall I did not have the strength to pick up those heavy heavy tires. I wanted extra ground clearance I got it. 2" looks good.
My next project is to pull the fiberglass bumpers. I just bought an Eastwood mig 140 amp I have to get a bottle of juice some steel and build some steel tire carrier and a gas, water and tool box for camping. And a roof rack basket.

Will the tire clear the fender with the wheels turned if you are on uneven ground? It looks really close. Easy way to tell is turn the wheels and put one front tire up on the sidewalk and have the other 3 out in the street. On my van a 245 45 R17 would rub the fender but a 245 40 R17 cleared fine.

Took it out for a 2 mile run I had 1 rub it's the back brace on the fiberglass fender I returned home took it off and no rubbing I drove 2 miles around town with windows down. It's silly but the new lower ratio I was 3:73 and now it dropped me to 3:33. Runs better and smoother no rubs but it I dropped 2000 pounds in it I would need to install my lift kit. The tires in the rear just clear the lip. The front I would have bet my check but no the opening is 31 inches and the tires are 29. Stock was 26 so I wanted explorer wheel well mesurants just in case. My new idea I'm going to hit the bone yard with cardboard and draw front back wheel well from an explorer and reshape mine. But now it's driveing fine .
FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
my areostar was a awd maybe they have a lift stock and that's why it was no head ach. Can you see how much tire is filling those wells. And I went from 26 1/2 hight from black to
To wheel lip to 29. And if you look at my trailing arms photo I went from 6"1/4 to 9 1/8 ground clearance that's all I wanted for camping. If I can hit a slot machine, and some steel and my new mig unit like they say on tv. "THATS SOME *****IN RIDE"

The wheels look good. I didn't think it would fully clear that easy. I like your style, you will either teach me something or hand me my ass!!!!

You can allway use my mig if you need it. What I like about it being an ac D.C. Machine it will smoke a flux core welder because you can run flux core wire electrod D.C. . Much smother welds and less splatter. If you welding trailers ect.. and you don't want to burn gas or in afil

Well after posting my compleat photo and write up I've been contacted by 5 others on my tire conversion. It seam if you go to google now and search big tire on areostar my photos and fourm write up come up. I got people asking me about the fit and rims. It seams the Cherokee rims is the ticket for the fit. Guy who bought explorer rims the rims were hitting the brake hose with those tires or inside the frame. The jeep must have a different off set.
Just my 2 cents

I need to clear something up. I thought I bought Cherokee rims. I did not they are grand Cherokee as shown below. What got me thinking why my lugs got loose. Well I went to buy lugs because the areostar lugs are short and stubby and factory jeep are longer because it's an alloy. Well I was surprised to find out there different. Today I have to contact jeep because a stock Ford acorn uses 1/2 rh but is a 45 degree cut. Some jeep mages use 45 and 64 degree cut. I didn't get the lugs so I just used my areostar and the got lose yesterday .i came home retork them to 90 ft. Will go for a ride later and recheck. If lose again I might have the 64 degree cut.

Spoke to rock auto had to order new lugs .96 cents each even though the degree is basic at 45 degree because it's an alloy rim the bottom seats differently. Live and learn.

Well today my nuts came in the mail. Nice and chrome I fudged up and thought my new wheel locks for my 2016 Cherokee would work so I only ordered 20 instead of 25. There stock dorman in dorman box so I have the part number. Looking at them I can see why the Ford acorns don't hold. Even thought Ford has a 45 degree angle the grand Cherokee is 64 so it's slightly rounded on the bottom. I know I rant but just trying to let someone know if they do this and don't go threw the learning I did.

Need more measurements of your awd van in the wheel wells.

What would you like wheel well opening, look at my photo stock tires are 26" from black top to lip. I don't know if you have an awd and if my has a factory lift in it. Because the springs are different. My front springs are no longer made and I can buy the rear. But the rwd areostar no problem. In fact durning my obsession for I lift I contacted moug. They informed me the rwd areostar is fox body parts. Mustang,t bird and farmonut rwd cars use the same springs ect... but the awd unit was frankstine. I have plenty of space above the tires. What I might do since I got the bug on my 67 firebird I had to inlarge the wheel well for slicks. I cut the eye brow all the way around that gave me 1 1/2 inches open. Then I took elec tubeing. And back in 77 elect tubeing was marked with center lines and markings every 2 inches. I have bought that stuff in almost 40 years. Well at the center line we cut it but first warped it around a tire to pre shape it. Then we tap it on the inner outer fender and welded it. Looked like a factory lip. Now as far as the inside front the fender liner was removed by the owner to get at the spark plugs and engine. What was left was the top fender liner and there's at lease 6 or more inches.

Just let me know what you need is it the size of opening by hight or dia. I'm slow

I have a rwd van, I'll invite myself over next time I'm in town.

Check the plug connection from the wire to the top it allways start choak closed 2 shots of Esther and 3 pulls. Now also check oil there's a safety switch if it's a little low it won't start. Open oil plug oil should be at threads. I change the oil and plug every march for monsoon season. Do you have the peck **** open under the tank by the see threw filter.
