Moon roof cover question

I just purchased a '93 Eddie Bauer 4x4. It has a manual moon roof. The moon roof cover clips in the front and has a knob with a screw in the rear. Not that I would ever it use it much, but the screw seems to be stripped and won't hold the cover in place. Am I doing something wrong attaching the cover or is this a common problem? Thanks

On mine there is a metal cylinder about a half inch in diameter tjat screws into the black piece on the roof. The handle on the roof cover has a twist lock thing on it which goes into this cylinder and locks it in place. This is a horrible description and I can try to send a picture if it might help.

Anyway, on mine the cylinder was constantly falling out of the black piece on the roof. My solution - I scratched up for outside of the cylinder with sandpaper and then used epoxy and glued it in place. This was about a year and a half ago and it's held fine since then.

So, check the locking mechanism on yours and see if you have the same problem.
