Two old geezers late sixties no longer find the front seats comfortable on long 8 hour drives. Anyone changed the seats for captains chairs? Any suggestions as to what will fit?

I've seen Mercedes seats used in the front, but I would think most bucket seats would fit when using the right brackets...

i really like the seats in my car there quite comfy

I've found early explorer seats to be nicer... I love my 94 limited seats... my moms '00 eb seats are alright, and the '02's arent that great...

Just my thoughts

I like the seats in our Durango R/T, though my X is cloth, not sure what limited feels like.

My aunt's '99 Limited' seats are very very comfortable. The leather is very soft and thick. But a couple of things I don't like is that the back is too flat. They don't provide much lateral support. Same goes for the seat. I guess I'm used to my '96 seats. It's what Ford calls "Sport Buckets". Mine has adjustable thigh support. Excellent lateral support on the back and the seat. It's awesome!!

Only thing my friends complain about is the abscence of a head-rest. Do any of the other Explorer seat options have headrests?

My all-time favorite "truck" seats are on a 1995 Ford F150 Lightning. A bit firm, but with 12-way power and 2-way manual seats, perfection could be attained. (If you don't know, 12-way includes, forward/back, raise/lower, tilt front up/down, tilt rear up/down, lumbar support increase/decrease, side bolster increase/decrease and the two-way manual was for the pull-out thigh support.)

My favorite seats for a car are in the Lotus Espirit, which, for me, defined the term, "fits like a glove." <Drool>

My leather seats in my 1994 limited are really, really nice.....i just took a 4 hour drive into the mountains this past weekend and I wasnt tired at all

yep our earlier model sport buckets are more comfortable. i bet you could find some cheap and avoid the cost of custom bracketry etc.

Mmmmhmm! From what I remember, my sport seats were pretty comfy, but it's been awhile since I've really sat in em for awhile
