door hinges and power window motor, if it bursts into flames, i would seek professional help, neither of these should cuase that effect ;)

Yeah, but you know how i do things, the "wrong way" according to all the audio guys. When it comes to non stereo stuff i'm pretty retarded though, so a little help would be nice.

HEY GUYS, A LITTLE HELP HERE?

Door hinges

The only experience I have had with this was on a 69 Nova. If you opt to remove the entire door have a friend with you to help support/remove door (they are heavy). Also you will need to remove/disconnect any wiring that goes into the door. Better yet, replace one hinge at a time. If you have a floor jack and a 2X4, this will help in supporting the door as you replace each hinge. Be prepared to make alot of adjustments to get everything lined back up. Good luck:D

Disconnect the battery.
Get somebody to help hold the door
Remove the door and hinges from the body
Dissassemble the door panel and change out the motor.
Change the hinges
Put everything back together
Its easier to do than to describe.

Be sure to take a pen and mark the hinge where you remove it. This will speed up realignment when you reinstall it.

THANKS GUYS. Pretty soon i'll either have doors that shut all the way or no doors at all.

haha, an X with no doors. a couple days ago i was driving down the highway when a minivan flew by me. it mustve been doing about 90 or better, but there wasnt a single door on the thing..and about 10 teenagers piled into it. i was just waiting for one to fall out:bounce: and that would be them bouncing down the road

Ford has bushing and pin kits for alot of vehicles . If they have one for your explorer , you can cut the center pin out of the door hinge and remove the pins (with some help and patience) . Then install the new pin with bushing and it has a cotter pin that holds the new dorr hinge pin in . My Mustang had saggy doors and I replaced the pins and it made the doors like new . Check with Ford , they may have a repair kit .
