Does anyone here have any tips or tricks for getting a little bit more db's while competing. I competed at my first db drag and I hit 146.6 and got 4th in street A but i wanna get the most out of my X. Any tips would be appreciated.

always good to add things like dynamat, capacitors, stiffening your roof which can be quite a project, bigger wiring, different box, etc. one of my projects will be to weld steel pieces to the ceiling to stabalize and stiffen it.

Should I put my back seat down when I compete?

Which way are your subs facing?

Damn you hit 146.6 with the subs facing back! Nice job man.

I would start by strengthing the tail gate. Then the roof liner and etc..

By the way, what do you have for system wise?

Depending on your current box, you may be able to either build a new box or tune the box you have to a bit higher frequency and figure out whats best once you find the resonant frequency of your exploder. I did that with my 12w7 and jl 1000/1 and raised my db by about 2.7 and am now hitting 152.3 on linear x.

how many 12w7s do you have? 152.3 is pretty good for one sub if thats all you have. theres this stuff called "Great Stuff Foam Spray" that you can fill your back door with to fill in space from your dynamat to your panel. i used it on a sunbird hatchback and it raised the db by about 2. the foam is only 3 bucks a can and 2 cans can fill up your back door easily.

Mohog: Just one 12 w7. I pulled about as much outta it as I think possible. Most people with the w7 subs are there just because they know it's made by a good company and it's one of the more expensive subs that they can buy so they buy it just to have it. I bought it with the intentions of using it to it's fullest. Right now I think I have just about maxed the sub out as far as spl. My whole ex is layered with 3 layers of secondskin sound dampener and the sub is pushed with a jl 1000/1 amp. I'm running 4awg power and ground(will move up to 1/0 once I put the other amps for the new components), and have the sub in a 2.3 cubic foot ported box tuned to 48hz. Daily driver, I swap it out and run it in a 1.75 cubed ported box tuned to 32hz. I'm lookin into getting 1 more 12w7 and putting an 8w7 in the middle for midbass while running 2 sets of jl 650csi components in the front and rear. Only problem I see is going to be tuning the midbass freq. so that the 8 is noticeable.. Any opinions??

maybe get two 8s and put them in a seperate box or what i would do if i had two 8s would be to make the back quarter panels into their enclosures. it would make the sound more noticeable with two and it would look nice for the setup.

Well, that sounds like a great plan but I'm kinda broke after purchasing the 2 12w7s and the single 8w7 with corresponding amps.. I was thinkin about creating a big box with 3 seperate chambers.. 2 on the outside going to the 12s and the chamber in the middle for the 8. So I guess it would look like this.. O o O with the 8 being in the middle. I'd prolly have to invest in a 30 band eq so that I could tune the system where I could really hear the 8 come in during midbass notes.

I was sketchy about the 146 on a PT amp until i saw the box. Tuned port! I am amazed by the people that don't know about the tuned port boxes. I'm running 1.5 cu.ft. in my port by itself and a single alum 12. Keep lot's of BC around :D

Looks good man :)

edit: tuned port :D http://www.boomspeed.com/puppies/Image2.JPG

Did you know that you can't have your vehicle running now while competing in street A or B?
