Hello, I am a new member to this site. I have a 95 explorer that knocks when it starts and goes away after I warm it up and drive a little. Even at idle it will knock when could go away and come back. I read that it could be the chain tensioner but the same post said that this was not common in a '95 explorer since it is not sohc. A mechanic told me it could be a egr sensor but I do not know. Does anybody have any idea what this could be? Thanks.

If you have the SOHC it is a chain tensioner issue, if you have the OHV it is probably a hydraulic lifter.

If it's and OHV I would try a can of lifter quiet, you can get many brands at your local parts place.

knock knock... Who's There? :D

Thanks. I think I will try a can of lifter quiet.
