I've been getting all the parts ready to do the brakes for the first time on my 04' Explorer. The Motorcraft BR114's for the front look just like the OEM pads, but the rear OEM's appear wider than the Motorcraft BR2's that replace them. I called a local Ford service center and he confirmed that the replacement rear pad set for my rig is the BR2's. Why would the replacement pads not be as wide as the originals?

As far as a low duct, performance pad: look into Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramics or Wagner Ceramics... or Performance Friction Z-series.
For a better than OE pad for the best $$ hard to beat the Autozone Duralasts.. for the $4 and warranty... hard to beat... and they are actually a good pad.
I have either performance friction or Posi-quiets on everything in my "collection" now.. lol
Thanks for the heads up on rock auto! That was the first site that said the BR2's are not for my Explorer! Even Ford said the BR2 was for the 04 Explorer! My 04' needs the BR2000 (BR2 is for older Explorers). Thank you!
