Since I changed my oil to synthetic at 20,000 miles, will a Motocraft oil filter last for 5,000 miles that I have been told that synthetic will last between oil changes?

My mechanic put in Castrol Syntech. Is that a good synthetic, and will the Motorcraft oil filter last 5,000 miles between oil changes? Thanks!

I think the sched. maint. from Ford is a 5,000 mile interval for oil changes. Thats with dino oil. If your gonna change that soon seems like a waste of money useing synthetic oil.
But then I'm not sold on synthetic oil anyway so...
The answer to your question is YES the filter will last that long.

just started using synthetics about a yr ago. I spend a little extra on the mobil1 filter and change the oil about every 8-10k. Haven't had a problem yet. To be honest I've never seen an engine fail because of a lubrication problem, unless it was just a lack of oil:rolleyes:

:chug: :chug:

Personally, I prefer changing my oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles which ever comes first and spend under $10 for Castrol Oil (5 qts for $1.29 ea) and Fram filter ($3) than to spend over $20 on synthecs and change it every 10k miles. But that's just me...

New oil every 3k miles or new synthetics every 10k?

I just switched to a synthetic blend on my last oil change. On the next oil change I will switch to Mobil 1. I plan on changing the filter at 3000, and the oil at 6,000. I am not totally sold on synthetics either, but I will be putting tons and tons of miles on my truck this winter, and do not want to have to change my oil every 2 weeks or so.

there was a thread here where someone had oil tested. im pretty sure it was synthetic. if i remember correctly it passed all test with alot of miles on it. if i can find it ill post the link.

castrol syntec is a synthetic blend not a true synthetic. I use it and like it had no problems going from regular to the syntec blend at 92k when I bought it. I was afraid to go fully synthetic at such high mileage.
