Mountaineer 98 awd 5.0 tranny questions

i have to get a new tranny for my mountaineer and i don't wanna drop the $2500 on the part.. what transmission will bolt up and work with the 5.0 there are a ton of them i see for sale here locally. i found a c6 that has a 1356 Borg Warner transfer case.. will this tranny work . he says he has one for the 302/5.0 and it is only 450 for the pair is this a good deal and will it work

I am certainly not a trans expert, but I would think your biggest issues will be drive shafts (may have to get custom) and computer. These trucks are obdII, and therefore tranny codes can affect the pcm (only reason I know that is because I just got done dealing with it).

OK that is good to know. If it were out of an explorer would that be a better deal you think

you will have to stick with the 4r70e trans if you want to stay auto. otherwise there have been some ppl that have swapped a 5spd in them, but its a lot of work. that and you would have to get a program to delete the trans out, otherwise your computer will go nuts.
