Mountaineer headlights in an X?

The '98+ Mountaineers have the better diamond headlight reflectors. Will the whole lighting assembly fit a '97 Explorer? Thanks.

not sure on this the headlight is certainly the same shape and whatnot, but I do not know if the brackets are the same..

the issue is.. you need a driver side moutanineer headlight fo your passenger side, and visa versa, the lenses would hafta be turned upside down to fit. This may cause complications for reflection and for water tight-ness.. but hey, if you find some cheap in a junkyard, I dont see what harm there is in trying it

To fit them correctly, you'd have to get a Mountaineer grille and front surround. With that they should bolt up.
