I realize that tow hooks have been discussed a million times but I didn't find much information on what I am trying to do. I want to add some tow hooks to the front of my '92. The problem is I don't want to remove the air dam. I realize I will have to notch it out but I want to keep this to a minimum. So I was considering maybe mounting some Chevy tow hooks that would come through the air dam. I feel that this would look the best. Below is a picture of the type of tow hooks I am referring to. Do you guys think that this would work? I have never seen these tow hooks in person so I'm not sure that they would be long enough to come through the air dam. Also would one of these hooks be strong enough for an offroad recovery? My truck's pretty much stock so it's not going to be anything extreme, most of my offroading is on the beach. Also I'm not exactly sure where to mount the hooks. I took a look under the truck and closest to the bumper the frame is angled so I can't mount them there, behind the angled piece it is level but a big oval piece is cut out. Although there may be enough room to mount the hooks right next to this cut out. Hopefully this spot will be strong enough. So has anyone ever done anything similar to what I'm describing or do you think it would work? Thank you. -James

Scratch that, I've decided that the Chevy tow hooks probably won't be long enough after looking at the frame again. So I've included pictures of the type of set up that I may go with if you think it's a good idea. They're not my pictures BTW they're from another member on the site. The picture is also of a Bronco but I think I'd be able to do something similar. That's a 1/4" piece of steel that's the hooks are mounted to. Do you guys think that this type of set up is strong enough? It looks prone to twisting but then again 1/4" of steel is pretty strong. I will only need these hooks for light recoveries anyway. My truck is stock so I don't think the truck will ever be too buried. And for the harder recoveries I have the hitch on the back. I just like the clean look of the way these hooks are mounted. So what do you guys think?
