I have a 2001 X, 4 door.

I have a set of PIAA 510 driving lights that are 4" diameter and 2.5" deep. I want to mount them up in my grill, in line with the headlights. I want them "sunken" inside the drill, so I will most likely have to cut away at the grill so that the lights are set back... basically so you wouldn't necessarily see that they are there (at least from the sides)..

Has anyone tried something like this? At worst, I'll have to buy another grill if I F it up...

I had a set of PIAA 1500s in the grill on my 96 X. Any larger or heavier lights will require some braceing to mount them on. The bottom of the grill area is just flexabile plastic and wont support a heavy light. You will have to use an "L" bracket to mount the lights. I think if you could mount them so that the light is centered in the grill opening you may not have to cut the grill at all. Just depends on how much light is allowed out. Its worth a try....

The idea crossed my mind, but then I though about how much light you'd be loosing with the center bar. And I have the factory tranny cool there also which blocks a good portion of that area, mounted outside using L brackets.

My PIAA's are just a tad smaller than your KC's... hopefully I can get them to work. The idea of mounting them like you have mounted yours is really good, but I'm just not sure how it'll look in person.. I'd rather try and hide them a little more.

We'll see how it turns out! Thanks for your guys thoughts...

Thinking about doing something like this myself this spring, but I think the best results would be if I put a billet grill in first. More light would get through this way, plus the lights wouldn't be very visible when off.
