So I bought an OEM Ford fog light kit from ebay for my XLS that will go on my new XLT bumper. Everything is from ford, but it came with the switch pictured below:

I would like to use that switch, because it's a nice switch and I want to keep everything factory, but any idea where they expect me to put it? Because it doesn't really fit anywhere lol.

You can mount where ever you wish. hidden under the dash, visible next to the hood release, in the glove box, and there probably is an OEM spot that the switch will fit (figuring that switch is from ford). I however do not know where that is on a Gen. 3. Just be careful that you do not drill/screw into anything of importance when mounting.

Yeah I know that, I'm pretty good with wiring & eletrical, I asked the question because it's obviously meant to go somewhere specific giving the bends in the brackets & such, I just can't find where it is, and the installation instructions doesn't list it.

Go to the dealer or used car lot and see where the factory put them.
Or see if anyone here knows.;)

Yeah, but the thing is how many people put an OEM fog light kit in their car when it wasn't equipped with one? lol.

That is NOT a factory switch. On the 3rd gens, the dial on the light switch pulls out when equipped with fog lights to turn the fogs on. Your best bet may be go to Autozone, get a switch that'll mount flat, and stick it somewhere on your dash.

What I learned when doing my aux. light install: the dash is a pain in the ass to take apart. Once you remove the driver's side lower dash, the whole upper dash (from the driver's door, across the IP cover, and all the way to the edge of the radio bezel is one piece of dash.. There is a screw of some sort behind the radio that holds the dash in... neither myself, a mechanic friend, or a Junior Mech. from Ford could figure out how to get off the dash without ripping off the radio bezel and getting behind the radio. So, we said screw it.. if you want to rip apart your whole dash to get that panel off, you could easily mount an Autozone switch to the right of the stock headlight switch.

What I did was mount an Autozone switch below my headlight switch on the lower dash panel. I need to do a little dremel work on the main panel to get the lower panel to sit right, but it was an extremely convenient place to put the switch, and if you mount it high enough, you don't have to worry about hitting it with your knee (I haven't hit it once). What my friend suggested for the wiring was to just pass them through the rubber boot for the steering shaft, and it actually worked pretty well once we put enough slack on the wire that the u-joint under there wasn't catching the wires.

It is a factory switch, it came in the Ford box, and it has a part number. Thanks though.

It may be a factory switch for the Ford OEM add-on fog lights. That doesn't mean it's the same as when they came from the factory equipped with fog lights though.

Yeah, I will. If I ever figure out where this **** is meant to go lol. It's a really nice switch

Probably should find another place to fish the wire through. Hood release?
Here is why:

No prob on my second gen.. Just made sure all wires where held up tight. I put in a Streetglow music interface switch. I wanted it to show because it lights up. Mounted right next to the hood release. Just needed to make sure there was enough room for the hood release to open ;)

I ment that a good place to fish the wires thru the firewall is thru the hood release gromet where the hood release cable goes thru the firewall.
Sorry for any confusion.

Oh, sorry. I thought you meant it was a bad place to mount the switch because that was one of the places I said that was one place he could mount his switch.

Now that I am really thinking about it, you might be able to cut the plastic so that the switch lays flush with the surface. Just make sure you take off the plastic because there is sometimes metal plating you need to cut, also.
