Yes, I read the other thread talking about finding and killing mice. Entertaining. Once they enter my garage or barn, I fall into the "only good mouse is a dead mouse" camp. :hammer:

In early December, I got the Explorer out of the barn. I hadn't driven the Explorer for about a month and found a mouse had been inside for at least a little while.

Has anyone figured out how the little *******s get into the inside? I know where the air vents in the tailgate area are, and will check those for signs of entry. I'm wondering if I should look anywhere else.

On a BMW I owned, there was a big air vent near the battery (in the trunk) that could become dislodged and allow for easy entry. I'm wondering if the Explorer has any similar vulnerabilities. Or maybe there is something under the hood? I should check the cabin air filter to see if he gnawed his way in there too, I guess.

On my 98 it's on the passenger side under the cowl panel just below the windshield.

My guess is that yours is the same.

Your little pals are getting in there and making a nest in your blower.

Heck, they may have even left you some "Mouse Christmas Presents"!

Yes they are little pains in the ass. Especially when they chew up wires, for some reason they like to chew on hard plastic. My buddy had them eat his injector harness and the fuel line to his generator and I had them eat a hole in my lawn mower gas tank. They can get through a 1/4'' hole. Forget looking for entry points on the car. you will never seal it up enough to keep them out.
Set multiple traps and put out the poison bait traps in your garage. Dryer lint sheets are supposed to keep them out of your drawers, I was skeptical of this but my friend put them in her drawers in her cabin labor day and I was up there tuesday and I did not find any evidence of them in the drawers.
This type of trap is my favorite. I have caught 6 in one night with this.

Thanks. And yes, I do make sure they are well "fed". I was just surprised as I switch back and forth between vehicles and they have never gotten into the Explorer before. Love that mouse trap - except I'd have to add a heater as the water would freeze in my barn.

I have the same problem at my cabin as it is not heated when i'm not there. I use old antifreeze instead of water
