I was trying to install the MTX Thunderform, but I couldn't quite push it all the way back. Is it supposed to be like that? There is a rubber gromet and some wires that block the way. Has anybody ran into this? And how did you solve it?
I am not sure as to the year of your truck - I have the Q-Logic box and its pretty much the same box - I also have a 91 Explorer. Its a very tight fit b/c if not, the box will jerk around whenever you hit bumps and when the bass fires. The trick is to line it up properly (as I am sure you have already done) and then use some force pushing it in while wiggling it around - after a little struggling it should fall into place very snug.
Rye,
I have the MTX thunderform in my 92 and I found that if I don't remove the interior trim completly that I cannot get the speaker in. Even if I have the panel off.. once I have the brackets in I have a hard time pushing the speaker back in. I did have to move the wire bundle around but once I moved it, it was no longer in the way.
Krayzie, I put the MTX in my 98 XLT and it sounded good. I had to give it real power to make it sound great. And then it died. I had to replace the 5000 series woofer with the 7000 and have been enjoying in ever since. Remember, you gotta give it the power to move the air. More power, more air, more boom!
