Please dont say you are going to get a BUGGY!!!

Not a buggy like like a S&N chassis, I am buying a 84 Bronco2 after the club meeting at the end of April, it is without a engine but has the transmission for a v-8 swap in it, I will also be picking up a front D60 that day not including gas I will have $170 invested so far. I plan on picking up a rear D60 from my supervisors fathers wrecking yard in Winlock for ~$50 and will 4 link the the rear and use a modified ford radius arm 3 link in the front. strech the WB 10" to 104" and leave the axles full width but run lots of backspacing on the rims so I don't need need axle shafts. The part that will cost the most is finding a 351w and all the misc. parts need for the install.
Now take a couple hours with the plasma cutter and install a cage I should be about set

sounds good. Let me know if you need any help, sounds like a cool project.

not this year i now work 45 minutes from home and my X is my only transportation. I will be bringing my girlfriend with me. Maybe one of you guys who can afford to break stuff can give us a ride or two.

At the pull a part in lynwood they had a 5.0 explorer a couple weeks ago, and I also saw a 5.8 liter F-250. Looked to be mid 80's........ Both are obviously Fuel Injected, but for a buggy I would think that FI would be better anyway.

FI is the only way to go, I still have not told the wife I am bringing something else home :D I have a car I need to strip and haul off to the wreckers by the end of the month or keep the bronco at my dads for awhile either way the bronco is a long term project, I mainly bought it for the tranny which is a C5 but I am getting the whole bronco2 for $170 minus a engine.

Devon bring your helmets cuz you will need one for riding on the course, I am not sure how busy I will be but I plan on running all the courses except the buggy hill.

I will be hurting for time on the 17th so i dont know how long i can stay or if i can even make it this year. my girlfriend graduates the same day but if i can run up in the morning and leave in time for the ceremony then ill be there. we dont know what time it will be yet. hopefully around 3 or 4pm so we or at least I can make it even if I am a little muddy.

were both going to make it but we might have to leave early. the graduation starts at 7pm ill see ya'll there!

This event is in limbo right, Pierce county had some issues with "wetlands" so we are looking at holding the event in a diffrent location, I will keep you all posted

There’ll be no joy in mudville

Pierce County has shut down a popular 4x4 rally planned for this weekend near Eatonville, an event that was expected to draw more than 2,000 off-road fans.
Earlier this week, a county biologist handed a cease-and-desist order to the landowners hosting the annual Tacoma Webfooters May “playday.” The site is a wetland, officials said.

“I was totally shocked. My whole family is pretty shook up,” said Dan Bowers, an Eatonville-area club member who looked forward to the event, an annual fundraiser popular throughout the Pacific Northwest.

On Friday, caretakers posted “Please No Entry” signs on the property. Some of the signs blamed Pierce County.

“I’m kind of sick,” said club member Heath Moyer, who lives in Lakewood and helped get the word out. “Why did they have to wait until now?”

The rally was to be held near Cranberry Lake, where landowners Bernie and Doris Larson have hosted it and other ATV and motorcycle get-togethers over past years. The Larsons could not be reached for comment Friday.

Diana Ranes, code enforcement supervisor for Pierce County’s planning and land services department, said the Larson property is regulated under the county’s critical areas law, which protects wetlands and other fish and wildlife habitat.

Complaints about the Cranberry Lake rallies have filtered in to county officials since January, Ranes said. Officials first tried to order the Larsons to abide by the county law in March, but the couple never picked up the certified letter sent to their address, Ranes said.

Environmental biologist Sherri Lampman personally delivered the order Tuesday after county officials fielded more complaints Monday, Ranes said.

Based on the advice of a county prosecutor, Ranes refused to give The News Tribune a copy of the cease-and-desist order Friday. She also withheld the names of the people who complained.

“We haven’t been able to conduct a thorough investigation,” Ranes said. “We want to make sure they (the landowners) are in compliance before they have another activity they want to have in June. There may be some restoration required. They do, at the very least, have to hire a wetland biologist and do some assessing,” she said.

The Webfooters playday was widely promoted on off-road Web sites. Webfooters also advertised it with signs plastered on their Jeeps in last month’s Daffodil Parade and passed out more than 3,000 fliers to spectators, club officials said.

This is at least the third time the Webfooters have used the Cranberry Lake site, organizers said. Each year, the event has attracted bigger crowds. About 2,000 turned out last year, and even more were expected this weekend.

“It’s a tradition. We kick off the race season with this event,” said club president Dan Morris of McKenna. Proceeds support club activities, and a portion goes to charity.

Cranberry Lake is located within the Nisqually River watershed, where the Nisqually Tribe has spearheaded salmon stewardship activities.

The wetland area isn’t suitable for off-road rallies, said David Troutt, the tribe’s natural resources director. “We’re thankful Pierce County used their authority to step in and do the right thing,” he said.

Bowers, the Eatonville-area Webfooter, said the club tries to observe environmental conservation guidelines.

“Our motto is tread lightly,” he said. “We’re 300 to 400 feet from the lake in a basic peat bog area.”

Club leaders said they are trying to reschedule the playday at more suitable location. “We have been putting our time and money into this property for quite a while,” Bowers said. “We are going to fight this somehow. Bernie (the landowner) has been a really good friend to us and we’re good to him.”

On Friday, the club tried to spread word of the cancellation, but Morris said some fans might not find out until they arrive.

“It could get entertaining out there tomorrow,” he said Friday.

So it appears that it was the "indians" who were against this and filed the complaint , I wonder if this is going to change the way I vote in the future

That sucks, I know y'all put a lot of work into these events (meaning yours not the webfooters)

However the last line of your last post is rather offensive to me Joe. Y'all are having mud bogs 300 feet from a lake???? Hell wilderness ethics dictates that you not even take a pee on the ground that close to a body of water. Why call out the Natives because the location was poorly chosen by whoever coordinates the event.

Sorry to disagree, but If I was aware of the proximity to that lake, and if I was the type to make a scene about everything I would have complained too. However I am not the type to make the scene that a few folks including tribal ecologists have done. Rather it just gives me another reason not to go. Before it was the crowd thing. Now I can say I just can't support wetland habitat contamination. Don't get me wrong I enjoy engaging the transfer case and getting dirty as much as you do...(well you like dents a lot more than me :p ) However no ones fun is worth the damage that could be done to that habitat.

Speaking of destruction.....Phil.......Do you remember those torn up meadows on the 304????? I went up a couple weeks after we went up with the BII folks. The ruts were even deeper :fire: At least I know that the next person to desecrate that meadow will be spending the night there or walking back down. :D

That was a sad picture in such a beautiful place.

I don't know much about the location of where the event was being held, but if it was on private land, I say the tribe and county should butt out. private land is private land. There's a lake on my parents property, and if I want to pee in the lake, I'll damn well pee in the lake (as long as its ok with my dad or he'll smack my tallywacker).

The problem is people who have never been to event area making a judgement about impact to the enviroment, now the land owner has to prove that he is not developing on wetlands, I would think that indians would know want it is like to have there rights infringed apon.
I am not against protecting the enviroment, but some take it to far and that is what I have a problem with, remember the spotted owl it has now come out that the information that was provided was incorrect never mind that it ruined many a lives in SW Washington.
Last year we trucked in 15,000+ gallons of water to make our mud bog and for the tuff truck course, none of this mud made it further than 15 feet from the pit after flying off tires.
According to my mapping software the lake is about 714 ft from where we have the mud bog, I myself have never seen the lake because of the brush and trees that surrond it
I have attached a google image of the property and the red line is where the 250-300ft long mud bog is/was in relation to the lake, the area to the left of the red line is where the rock garden, tuff truck and obstacle course is.

But to keep this from getting into any type of argument etc... this is the last I will speak of it

The show will go on we are going to move the event to Buckley and will be towards the end of July or the first week in August

There is a petition going around now to put it to the vote of the people making agencies compensate people for the loss of the value of their property because of new laws and regulations.

I suppose the private property aspect is a good point. However you have to look at what that water supports, and where it goes.

If a stream flows through your land you are held responsible for
maintaining (not polluting etc...) that section of the stream. That water supports a variety of life animal and human and crops. To pollute or deliberately disturb that section of stream is a crime I would imagine, or should be.

In the instance of a lake you still have to consider where the water flows as well as others who may border said body of water.

Now if you have a pond or self sustaining body of water with no outflow somewhere, surrounded by your property, I suppose nobody would much notice or care what you did.

Then again in this new millenium environmental groups have taken up the fight for speialized habitat as well. Certain small habitats carry unique creatures that are endangered and fragile. As we well know fish are becoming one of these species...

Im definitly going to this if it happend, also were can i sighn the petiotion to.

I know I said i wasn't going to say anymore but, in the case of craneberry lake it is all on the one land owners property it is the lowest point with no water flowing out of it, and actually tanawax creek which is the closest flowing water is on the other side of elevation line over 1/4 of mile away
