Mud then dies in drive

I just bought a 2000 exploder with the 4auto option well I too it out to the place my buddy's call the tire pits and I went in 4x4 low I have a snorkal well I got stuck they pulled me out I went in about 10mph the second run I made it through the water was head light high and I don't have my vent houses raised yet an my question is I think I got my tranny full of water since it dies in drive and reverse won't engage im gonna change fluid and filter if I can find one I have the 5 speed auto

Needing your insight guys to fix my exploder it's the 5r55e trans I dropped the trans pan off few metal but not much the fluid did not smell burnt the trans fluid was not milky in wondering if I burnt the cluthes rock auto has a rebulid kit cheap but I'm not sure were to get the hard parts

Could have burnt up tour torque converter... Thats what keeps your vehicle from stalling when selecting a gear and coming to a stop. if its locked up all the time shell stall out.

I changed the fluid an filter got me 1st and sometimes 2nd and reverse when cold but I just went and bought a new trans so tomorrow I'm gonna swap them out inbtween class in the school parking lot

Got the old trans out today exhuast was a pain y pipe bolts one on each side broke then the others stripped out -_- so took the manifolds off snapped 3 studs off in the head after few hours got exhuast off gotta wait for a torch for the broken studs got the new trans ready to go can get converter all the way seated gonna Check the input shaft tomorrow not 100% on how to get the shaft reseated can I put the trans in N and turn the input shaft and it fall back in place or what and I bought 10q of mercon 5 think that's enough?
