muffler question

if i was to just gut the muffler only would it sound OK, and not hurt performance?

A good muffler with a 2.25" tailpipe will give you both sound and performance.

you could gut it, the ohv's arent loud with the exhaust cut off before the muffler even if its not ran out the back, they dont sound too bad, and it wont hurt your performance at all, if anything it should help. Exactly how would you go about "gutting" the muffler anyways?

Ah, I read "get" and not "gut"

I don't think the stock muffler can be gutted. As for just deleting the catback exhaust, that's illegal and dangerous.
