Hey guys, does anybody know of any good cheap and cheap easy to install mufflers for a 95 explorer, preferably clamp on. Also good sounding, cheap would be the total being under $50

Do you have the original exhaust?
If you want cheap go Walker. They have standard and Stainless type. I have the stainless one (I think quiet flow) and it held up very well over the winter.

Chances are you will need pipes too, problem is that aftermarket pipes are made of aluminized steel and last maybe 3 winters in the salt areas.

I would try to find a local "redneck type" exhaust shop. They can do custom work and usually for a very fair price. I don't suggest big chains. Look up exhaust shops in your area.

I had a place like that weld a small hole in my Y-pipe for 20 bucks, most places wanted $600 to replace my pipe, which I can do myself but is a scary nightmare to remove the manifold bolts(yes bolts, not studs on our motors). The other issue is the new Y-pipe is made of that aluminized steel, so it is a temporary repair anyway.

I was talking not stock but aftermarket, beefier sounding

Your choices for a direct fit solution have diminished significantly over the past few years. There used to be a lot of options, but now, only very-similar-to-stock options are available.

Edit: I am speaking of my experience in Nov. with a 98 SOHC. YMMV, since you have a 95 OHV.

You'll probably need to do some custom work, with perhaps a straight-thru/glass-pack/bullet muffler (or two) and some custom tubing.

I would search the "Modified Explorers" forum, as I would bet that many others have gone this route.

I don't think you will find anything for under 50 bucks that sounds beefy. Go look through a salvage yard and see what you can find.
