i have a 98 ford explorer SPORT v6 4.0L - I want to get a flowmaster 40 or 50 Series - I dont know which one i will fit my car _ I NEED HELP _when i called flowmaster they said that 50 Series Performance, 5'' x 10'' Case (524553) will fit - but its 17 in - the the one i have is 20 - or maby i did it wrong

THE specs of the 50S muffler
In/Out: 2-1/4''/3''
Body: 17''
Style: Dual In/ Single Center Out
Chambers: 3

IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN CHECK online THE SPECS OF MY muffler???//

- the one i have now
2 pipes are coming from the engine and 1 coming out to the rear in teh center
but i dont know the size of the pipes

I would imagine that your stock pipes going into the muffler are 2 1/4 so thats ok, you can use an adapter for the output that goes from 3" to your size but if the new muffler is shotter that may not work anyway. The best thing to do is to just buy the muffler and have a muffler shop intstall it with a new tailpipe.

Yes. To the 50 series will be a direct replacement with some more pipe needed from a muffler shop, and please have it welded, those clamps are crap. Only way the 40 series will work is either a custom H/Y-pipe inlet welded. Either way, buy the one you like, take it to a muffler shop, and have them put it on.

I would give you some sound clips of my V6 98 sport with the 40 series on, but the FTP had it's bandwith limited, so you'll have to wait till July. :p
