Hello,

I have a 2006 ford explorer around 150000 miles, currently have an issue with a lingering order in the front on the cabin, air filter is clean, I had it detail last week, cleaned the carpets and seats, used an Ozone machine, and used air-refresher. The smell oddly becomes more apparent from the passenger side, I have take out the passenger panel and cleaned it and cleaned the weather strips as well put I cant pinpoint the smell. Would my AC drain plug be causing the smell? Thanks for the help.

Jon

You might want to remove the blower motor to see if there is something in there (dead rodent etc.) causing the smell.

I’ll give that a try, thank you!

Well took it out not dirty or moldy, no dead rodent, just old. Any other suggestions?

Have you checked the air intake in the cowl for debris or mold. You can get one of the home mold kits to determine if it is a mold issue. Then you can hone in on if there are wet spots promoting mold growth. Is the odor stronger after a rain or sustained use of the AC? The odor could be due to a clogged drain in the AC core housing inside the dash causing moist spots. You might have to get your nose into places to see if you can pinpoint where the odor is originating from.

Well I figured it out, weirdly enough it’s coming from the rubber seal on the driver and passenger door, I removed them and have them soaking in some bleach ( idk if that will remove the smell or if it’s the right way to clean them ) but also there is some residue in the door that’s cause the smell so I need to scrap that off somehow. Thanks for the help Eddie
