BLAH! My pictures stopped working already.. wtf lol.. Well, those are gonna be on hold for a day or two, I gotta go do some work on the truck now, so I'll have to upload them all again somewhere else. Sorry!
-Edit-
Heya, longish time reader, I usually dont post because I dont have many anwsers for people yet. Anyhow, I originally wanted to buy my dads 1994 XLT he had, but instead my parents bought me my 1991 XL for my graduation present (which I really wasnt expecting... They told me earlier, as well as my sister, that they wont buy us our first vehicle.. /shrug). The 94 ended up being bought by my sister instead, which sits on 33x12.50 Thornbirds (eww.. My brother in law did that!) and a 6" skyjacker lift (the picture I have is with a 3" BL too though).

My 1991 Explorer
Now, onto my truck. It started out as a somewhat worn 91 (What 91 isnt at least a bit worn) with a busted T-case, or thats what the seller had claimed. I got the truck for $800, which was a pretty sweet buy, because down here, even the 2wd X's run 2500+ for first gens. Anyhow, I brought the truck home, parked it for a long while, roughly 7 months after buying it mainly because I didnt actually get my license until then.. /shrug. In the meantime though, there were some small updates done to the truck to try and get it ready for a short weekend. My brother in law and I figured it needed bigger tires (Duh!) so he let me borrow his 33x9.50 BFG MTs, which for some reason fit perfectly with just a 1.5" home made BL. After testing for rubbing, I went out and bought a 2" AAL and we modified the front end for 2" of lift. Now, the truck was running on 33x9.50 BFG MTs, as well as a total lift of 3.5". I loved the ride height, so this is when I started asking around. I wanted to try and keep it as low as possible, but get rid of any clearance issues.. But I didnt have time before its first wheeling weekend came.
The 1991 on 33s
Now, remember I said it had a busted t-case? Or, appearntly.. We all knew this, but I figured I'd try and get it into 4wheel drive again (I did when I bought it, no go). Funny, 4Hi worked.. Shift motor probably just was stuck for a bit because the last guy never used it, so it did its usual thing of no workie. Now, the truck was already performing better than anyone had anticipated. So, we headed out, and lo and behold, the bugger got stuck, on a tree stump.. The rear lower shock mount was the perfect size to let this stump fit into it, getting me stuck within the first 15 minutes. Then the next set of problems arised. Overheating. A few days before the trip my brother in law and I had taken it out to see if it would even be able to stick with some of the guys, so we took it to the trail and did a little bit with it. It started to overheat, which was fine, so I figured I'd get off this hill before I pull over. BANG! There went the rad. Put a new one in, and now its still overheating on the trail. Parked it was, and I hoped in the 94 XLT. Weekend over.
Stage 2 of planning started to happen... I didnt want to get stuck on a stupid tree stump again, or overheat. So, I figured a new rad (not a wrecker rad) was in call, as well as a bit more lift. But I wanted to run 35s, but I also didnt want to run the D35 TTB anymore. Que the Dana 44 solid axle. Alright, so the D44 STILL isnt in (note I got my truck when I graduated.. in 04), but its going to get there. The other issue I wanted resolve was my blown A4LD.
The blown A4LD
Now, even more thinking occured.. 302 swap? Yeah, I've got a 302.. And an NP435/NP205 combo... Hmm... This would be perfect! Wrong again! I, being the mind changer of them all, changed my mine, again. I figured, why get rid of the 4.0 when its in such amazing condition? Out goes the 302 idea.. But the NP435/NP205 stayed. I found the Transmission adapter that 4-x-fab.com offers. Sweet, I can use that and still use my NP435/NP205! Awesome!
The NP435/NP205
Now, this plan was almost set in stone. I wanted to drive my truck a bit again, since I've got this junky car thats been nothing but problems, but the tranny in it was gone.. So, I went 50/50 with a buddy and bought a parts ranger, and silly me, forgetting what M5ODs looked like, bought a truck for an FM145 and a 1350 T-case... /shrug I figured, what the hell, it'll work right?
Right..
The FM-145 and 1350 T-Case
Until I went to the wreckers in Calgary. OMG! M5OD awesomness everywhere! The first X I went to, had a 1354 manual Tcase AND its M5OD... Comence drooling. The top end of the M5OD was already taken, but we took the tranny out anyways. Found another that still had a working tranny and the top end, but it was 2wd. Swapped the top end, and behold, a working M5OD with a 1354 manual tcase! Grabbed my 4.0 clutch assembly and stuff,(note I have an XL, but the title says XL(T).) some new seats, and a center console. There, time to make my XL into an XLT.
The M5OD and 1354
With the bucket seat swap done, the center console swap done, all that was left for my XL-XLT conversion was the doors, which will wait for another day. But what about the M5OD/1354, that was forgotten quickly.. I still need my hydraulic hose which I cant seem to find anywhere, and the Ford Dealer wants a stupid price of $180 for it.. The Trans adapter is on hold because I now have a running M5OD, and a 1354 Tcase, which should be going in this week.
The clutch pedel done, without removing my dash or destroying anything

The Old Seats with my ripped out carpet
New Bucket Seats
Now, to sum things up incase people dont wanna read that much, which I dont blame them, I just looked at how long it was..
Dana 44 Solid axle is going to be getting its time soon, going to rebuild the entire thing and make it something worth showing.
The 302 swap is being held off for a long time, until my 4.0 dies.
The 435/205 swap with the tranny adapter are being held off on for when I somehow wreck my M5OD/1354, or sell them.
The FM145 is going to the salvage yard, gonna get back a few pennies for the stupid price of $250 I paid for it (The M5OD AND 1354 MANUAL tcase cost me $60..)
The M5OD should be going in on monday/tuesday, unless something happens.
My interior swap is done because I can live with window crank doors, less electronics the better imo..
Overall the truck is done it'll have a D44 up front with 4.88s and a TrueTrac, 35x12.50 BFG MTs (When the M5OD goes in, it'll be sitting on a set of 34x10.50 SuperSwamper LTBs for abit) 4.88s rear with a TrueTrac, or maybe even a fullout Detroit Locker. Roughly, overall lift will be 7-9" without a BL. Oh, and it currently has the 3" BL that was in the 94 XLT in the picture above. So its 1.5" higher now than in the pic with the 33s.
Hope I didnt bug anyone with the super long registry post
