My aerostar' 1994 XLT all wheel drive won't start. I was at Oreilies auto to pick up a part .When I went to start the car all it did was click. Luckally I was able to remove the starter there . They tested it about 10 times just to check the average. It passed every time. They said the starter and selonoid were good I put it back in the car cleaning all the connections. The car started. I got home and sure enough It did the same thing. When looking at the front headlights, when I turn the engine over they completely dim out. I do hear a clicking at the selonoid by the battery where part of the red cable is attached to. For $13.00 I'm going to replace it with a new one when I can find a way to go get it . Am I on the right track or is there a fuse or something I need to check?

about alternator and battery.

The tech put a meter on the battery and said it was 96% charged and the alternator was working fine. He even brought out a second battery to help with the charge and it still wouldn't start

It's possible that one of the battery cables is no good or there is rust under a ground connection. Use a voltmeter to check the opposite side of the battery cable to see if it's the same reading as the side connected to the battery.

if the tech said lots of power, won't a bad connectioc let nothing happen. and why do I hear a loud clicking while in the car on the left side where the selinoid is and what would cause the lights outside to completely go to out when I turn the key over

Yey everybody. Thank you for all your input. It seems when I took the starter to Oreilly's and tested it, it always said everything is fine. I took it out again and took I took it to A1 auto parts and they said it was faulty. I bought a new one and sure enough that was the problem. Shame on you Oreilly's.Get your equip fixed.
