2006 Ford Ranger
Hello, I just bought a 2006 ranger and I dont know to much about the history of the truck. What I do know is that my girlfriend got pulled over last night because the rear turn signals and rear brake lights dont work.So I want to get this fixed asap:thumbsup:.

I checked the sockets in the brake light assembly and there is no power (checked one side). It is as if the rear of the trucks has no power-the front is fine. The bulbs look new. I checked the fuse and it is fine looking.Any thoughts??

Thank you:rangertan:

Also I wanted to add that after looking online I found some more information about the testing of this problem.Apparently the power signals from the front of the truck are making it back to the connector for the trailer hookup. The running lights and turn signal lights work-But why then aren't the signals making it to the turn signal assemblies?
I think this truck previously had the bed replaced and maybe a wire got pinched? I would like to find a wiring diagram but searches online aren't giving me what we need...
anyone got thoughts?

Make sure the connector of the wires to the tail lights are securely connected after the trailer connection. Also use something like dielectric grease to protect the contact of the connector from oxidizing. You may need to disconnect and connect the connector a few times to wear through the oxidation.

It is possible the connector is bad but I find it hard to believe all the contacts would be bad in the connector unless somebody damage them when taking is apart incorrectly.

Also, check the fuses.

I found that there was no connector at all between the wiring harness for the tail lights and the connector that connects to the main wiring harness of the truck.Someone cut this connector off to be nasty or .? who knows.
But anyways last night I cut off the other connector to connect the wires directly ( i couldnt find the other connecter needed in the junkyards) and I was testing which wire was for the reverse light, the turn signals etc so i could direct connect them. I acidentaly touched some of the the power wires to ground and blew a fuse and after replacing a fuse now there is no turn signal flasher at all - it used to be that ar least the front flashers work.....

:(

Sounds like you burned out the turn signal flasher, also.

You might be able to find the connector you need at Ford. I was able to get one when I had to rewire my transmission wiring harness.

Ok thanks, is there any way to test the flasher to make sure that it is the problem?
Thanks

The 2006 ranger doesnt have a flasher module like the older rangers right?
It is some box under the dash or ? I want to get one at a junk yard. Thanks for your help

Hello- this problem has been solved.I found out it was a fuse that was no good. I relied on a download from motorcraftservice. com and that info showed the fuses for my 2006 ford incorrectly. So anyways I thought it was the relay but after opening the relay and seeing nothing burned I returned to the fuses and looked more completely. I then fixed the fuse replaced the blinker and then spliced the wires together and all the signals and all lights in the rear work now.

Thanks to everyone who helped !:D

Great news!
