i have a 2000 expedition with the 4r70w it will not go into od actually it does shift out of 3rd into od but no gear it goes like its in neutral i pulled the pan and valvebody only to find the direct clutch accumulator spring broke. also the filter wasn't attached it was laying in the bottom of pan with some bobber looking piece. I will try to get a picture of it and post in the next reply

Your post was moved into its own thread with a new title in the transmission section. Check the fluid level in the transmission. It might be a little low. How many miles does it have? The valve body might need to be rebuilt. Your post says that it's an Expedition but your profile says that you have an Explorer.

The bobber thing is just a plug they use for the dipstick at the factory. You can throw that away while you have pan off.
