2008 Explorer XLT 4.0L V6 4x4. When coming to a panic or hard stop and then try to start going again, the motor just revs as if it's in neutral. I can put it back in park and then back to drive and it goes back into gear and I can keep going. No loud noises or clunking sounds at any time. Any advice would be appreciated

What do you mean by just revs?

Engine rev higher but no movement or no throttle at all?

Sorry about that. I press the throttle and the engine just revs up and the vehicle does not move.

Sounds like bad torque converter or inner 5r55 gearbox issues

Another possibility might be an electrical connector that is loose. Try disconnecting and reconnecting connectors on the shifter box or maybe at the transmission. I would spray some contact cleaning solvent into the connector ends before plugging them back together. Make sure the power is off. Maybe Something at the shifter is mechanically moving slightly so that when you shift it from drive into park and then back to drive it is being forced back into proper position.

(CRC QD Electronic Cleaner. deoxit D5 is my go to for everything electronic)

which tranny do you have.....I have the same exact issue in new to me 06 limited. 5r55s tranny. I have NOT evaluated anything as I've only had it 3 days...

I have recently changed out the shifter assembly. I'll check that. Thank you!!
