2000 ranger
I have a 2000 5.0 sitting on an engine stand. It has about 40k on it.
It will be going into a 2000 ranger. It is 4x4 and will have a manual tranny and billet flywheel. It will have an electric fan and a custom exhuast. I am thinking dual 2.25 or 2.5" I cant find any of the ford headers, and am unaware of any others that will fit so I may go custom. I will port mach the upper and lower intakes. It will also have a chip. Other than that I am not sure what to do. With 40k I dont know if I should rebuild it. I would like to see about 300hp and 350+ torque out of it. Oh and I want it to be as reliable as possible.
So far I have been thinking,
24lb injectors, "e" cam, 70mm maf and tb, intake (mac?), rockers (1.6 rollers?)
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You're on the right track. I'd have the heads worked a little. That's the only thing I regret not doing when I had mine apart. If you want 300rwhp you may have to change the HIC altogether. Or S/C or Naaawz it.

When does this project start?

FYI- FRPP sells a bone stock explorer motor with an Ecam and rates it at 270hp (at the crank). If you want 30 more hp than i would have the heads worked.

My goal is for dyno'd rear wheel hp and torque. I dont think that I will be there with the list. As for the heads, what should I do?
3 angle valve job, port polish?
I have had the engine for a couple of years but I lost my job and went back to school.
I finish next year so I am gathering parts, and slowly getting it ready for when I finish.

And with 40k on the engine do you guys think I should rebuild it?
Also what would be the best daily driver supercharger. I saw the powerdyne and explorer express, but I also notice alot of people using mustang chargers.
Thanks!
-Jason
