I have a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 4wd that cranks but doesn't start. It sounds like its out of gas but it has gas. I have changed the spark plugs, gas tank, fuel line and nothing. I have had it parked for about two weeks because we cannot figure out the problem. It had been scanned by computer but no problems show up. Please help.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed, and moved your thread to the stock 95-01 section. Do you get power on the fuel pump? Did you check the inertia switch? It might have a bad fuel pump relay or PCM relay.

Honestly, i don't know much about cars but my father was the one that worked on it and changed some things. I will see if we can have the inertia switch.

you might also want to tell us what motor it has in it.

If the fuel pump is running when you turn the key to the ON position, then the fuel pump relay, and inertia switch should be ok. Have you checked for spark? Also, try squirting ether/starting fluid directly into the intake and see if it runs for a few seconds. If so, it could be a vacuum or fuel related problem. You need to rule out spark first.
