My A4LD went bad, What happened??Help

The governor was stuck and did not move freely but the bad tranny governor moves ok.Would it be ok to take the one spring from the governor and use it for a return spring for the spool that moves inside the governor or is that spring too stiff.I think the kits come with a light spring for that right??I dropped the pan on my good tranny and it looks good inside.Still shiney. The pan has a light coat of grey like normal but no metal to be found.

Sometimes there could be dirt causing it to stick. If cleaning it doesn't help, then swap it with the other transmission. Sonnax makes a heavier governor weight which you might want to use instead of the stock weight.

should I repalce the front pump seal where the TC rides??

Ok I think I got everything I need ordered.I got a shift kit,35 ounce weight, new pilot bushing, new zc servo and cover, new ab servo with new orings for the ab cover, new low/reverse servo seal and d-ring,new large boost valve, front pump seal, new VB gaskets, new pan gasket and filter.I cleaned the trans case today.I am sure the caked on grease didnt help cooling.I am going to flush the lines and cooler as well.Since I have the exhaust apart, I am cutting the old rear cat off, welding on anew hi flo 2.5 inch cat and run into a 40 series delta flow flowmaster muffler.SHould sound good I hope. The shop wanted $250 to do that without the cat.I can do it all for around $100 in parts.Glad I can weld.

A new TCC screen sock style push in filter, high radius relief valves, VB end caps with O rings, reverse servo cover gasket, modulator, band adjustment nuts with seals, manual linkage seal, and a manual valve index sleeve should be enough.

The index is fine suprisingly enough. The vb end caps is a good idea but I already sent the order.Maybe I can add them on.

I got the servos out. They were hard as rocks.New ones should do some good.

That tranny didnt have the heat shield but the bad one did. Those servos were soft but grungy.Should I drain the TC since I have it out then fill it with fresh fluid??

I got the VB out and so far it doesnt look too bad.No metal but some buildup in spots.Looks like sludge. How do you get the vb gaskets off. They flake off like paint and i dont want any of it to get into the vb or gouge the vb.Also there is a spring in one of the ports for the vb in the case.Doesnt look like it goes to anything. What the hell is it doing there??Maybe got wedged in there from a rebuild or whatever??

I will leave it in there then.I kinda figured it was some sort of a filter but was questioning that in my mind.I got most of the gasket off the VB.Looks like it was glued on in areas.I cant wait to get my parts and get this done.

Got the gasket off and the valve body cleaned up.It looks real good inside.A little sludge buildup but not bad.All the valves moved real smooth.Guess I got lucky with a well taken care of tranny.

I will once my parts all show up.I wont be using transmissionpartsusa.com again. They messed my order up.My sonnax pilot bushing didnt even show up either. So that makes 3 items on my invoice not in my hand. Was wanting to get this tranny back in this weekend.
