On my X I had the ac out the panel switching to defrost under load problem going on. One of those things that gets on your nerves but at least you still have ac. Well today I got out the vacuum pump and gauge and started testing stuff and this is what I found. The little rubber elbow that comes off the vacuum globe that has two red lines going from it to the 4 wheel drive vac. solenoids had 2 VERY tiny slits in it. This was causing the vacuum in the globe to only be about 8" at idle. When I took this elbow off and used a vac. cap in its place my vac in the globe went back to 19-20" at idle instantly. I then went and drove around and the air never got diverted back to the defroster! So I have included pics of this slits in this elbow, there is one on each side of it, that is why there are two pics. Just wanted to put this out there for you guys, because I have received a ton of help from this site!
