My Auto 94 Explorer XL is stuck in 1st gear!!

OK here goes... I have an auto 94 explorer XL was working properly and great until...

I was driving home last month and while getting off at my exit noticed my truck wouldn't accelerate.. I was literally flooring the gas pedal and the car was rolling to a stop. I pulled over and popped the hood. Upon inspection noticed that my engine compartment had started to smoke.. I checked around and found that the tranny hose had burst... There was tranny fluid all over the place... I had the truck towed home and checked the tranny and noticed the transmission hose had burst... I replaced the hose and refilled the transmission with fluid..but now the truck is stuck in first...

My auto tranny is now stuck in first gear it will reverse but will not move past 1st gear/20mph!!!

what could this be??????? Please help.. Single mother of two and don't have the money to buy another car.. this is my only mode of transportation.

Recheck the fluid level. If you put the selector in 1, accelerate to 15MPH then move it to 2, what happens? Try putting it in 2 and starting. Any difference?

i got home and tried that I put it in 1st got up to about 15-20 mph then threw it into 2nd ad then drive and it worked fine.. did a oil change and tranny fluid change + filter changes and now it drives fine..
