I installed a (no-name; LMC Truck) wiring upgrade kit (with separate R/L relays) feeding directly from the battery to each headlight (2000 Explorer XLS). It works great: My headlights are much brighter than before. [I still need to replace my headlight assemblies due to hazing/crazing/yellowing of the plastics after 17 years.]
However, since the upgrade, I've noticed that my dashboard display indicator no longer indicates if/when the high beams are actuated.
I've only had the SUV 2 months so I'm hazy about where/whether the dash indicator worked pre-install.
Is this a necessary compromise from the wiring upgrade or simply a defect of the no-name (Chinese) kit?
Update: Actually, the High Beam indicator light actually DOES still work. I hid it from myself by installing a ScanGauge II display in front of it! (Silly me! Sorry!)
