i had some old Alpine Type S SPS-500 speakers laying around and decided to throw them in my front doors. A pair of adapters is pretty cheap around the internet at around $9 or so but keeping in spirit with the rest of my dirt cheap system build i decided to go at it from a different direction.
I fired up photoshop and made myself a template then found a good candidate for a first attempt in the form of $1 8.5"x11" cutting boards from walmart.
My Template
The 5.25 cutout worked perfect for my install and i added a 6.5 cutout for future use if i need it. I didn't have a way to verify the 6.5 mark is 100% accurate but should be close enough to be usable.
My victim.

The finished product is rough as hell since all i had handy was a wood blade on the trusty ole jig saw but they fit well and are solid as a rock. The full process is shown here with the rest of my basement budget work truck build.
