I have heard that this is a fairly common problem as the gas tank is on the driver side. Would a bad shock cause it to sag like that? My thinking is not (though I might need to replace them anyways). Anyone have any insight into this? I suppose I could put a small block to lift it up just on the drivers side? What is the smallest block available?

Naw not the shocks. It just sags that way because the gas tank is on that side. The easiest way to compensate for it is to adjust the torsion bar diaginal from the leaf spring that sags.

Does it sag with no one in it and empty? From my experience with Xs, it doesn't take much for then to sag. I have 3 explorers for my business, and we load the trucks (with our equipment) with approx. 50 lbs. more or the right side. This causes them to have a slight lean to the right.
Either way, the springs should not let the truck sag unevenly if load is equal side to side. If you drilled holes in the shocks (aka..made them worthless), the truck should sit level.
I would not want to drive with only one block in my suspension.

Thats a good idea, ill try it

Someone else had a related post on this about a month ago - they also had another fix - adjusting the body mount bolts if I remember right. I have searched, but cannot find the post.

I have about a 1 1/2" difference on my '96 (left side low as well) - has anyone else tried the body mount adjustment method? I worry about the effect of a TT on my alignment - I just got new Michelins and want them to last.

I have to say it is not all that easy to notice this sag - it seems to be in the leaf springs in my opinion - the height of all the other suspension related stuff seems fairly constant. I think it is just the left rear spring fatiguing (spelling?).
