I don't know what the problem is and I don't even know where to start looking. I know that these lunchbox lockers may have some interesting on road driving quirks but this is too much for me.

Corners

This is where I would expect the locker problems but it's only while making right turns.

I coast around corners but as soon as I let up on the clutch the whole truck pops and sometimes it even feels as if the whole driveline slips somewhere. It's as if the teeth aren't catching on something, but I don't know why. Back on the gas and I get a crazy loud kerPOW!

Straight Line Driving

When I let off the gas the truck pops and slightly moves to one side or the other. Back on the gas and I get a crazy loud kerPOW again!

So where should I start looking for problems?

Sounds like its fine to me lol

Enjoy :D

Sounds like an EZ locker to me. If you're getting power to both tires when it locks and it tests out when on jack stands (testing it like the powertrax) then its working like its designed to. Sorry to say, but you get what you pay for.

That's what I was thinking but I guess I just didn't want to admit it. There was just a sudden onset though....that's why I thought there may have been a problem.

Hey mine goes bang too! Gotta love that little wake-me-up you get with a lunchbox locker. Wait til you're in really cold weather and it does not lock up on you and just makes an awful noise til the gear oil heats up...

I thought lockers weren't suppose to be taken on road because of those characteristics and that it will tear up the teeth.

Does the PowerTrax NoSlip have the same on-road characteristics (the sounds) ?

Not sure where you got that, but many of us run lockers in our daily drivers.

No. I can count the times I've heard my Noslip bang on my fingers. . . And I've been running it for 4 years now. (though I do have an automatic and that makes a big difference as well)

AHAHAHAHAH kidding! How's it going Jefe?

Thats great news tho, I've been looking at this NoSlip shindig for a while now.

no-slip is great. no mine has only banged once and that was when i was at a stoplight and i bumped my truck in neutral. WIthout thinking i pulled it into drive b4 the engine wound down and it went BANG and off we went.

A welded diff give better street manners than as far as noise is concerned, no slip, no bangs, just an occasion tire chirp at every corner.

I still think thats the BEST locker Availible

i was just wondering for those of us who use our explorers as daily drivers, when u weld up the spiders (and grind it as Arnie did), dont u have to take into consideration the while shindig (carrier and all) isnt balanced anymore?

You definately DONT want to lincoln lock a daily driver. Balance would be the least of your Woes.

i was under the impression that some here were running welded spiders for daily drivers.

Mine wasn't ground down after the welding. It's been in for about 1000 miles so far. Also....I drive my X everyday!
