Hi everybody i had just bought a 96 ford explorer 4.0 eddie baurer. my co-worker sold it to me for dirt cheap:D!! i only spent 600 bucks! Of course there are few things that needs to be done to it such as new o2 sensors i had already put on new ball joints on the passenger side the upper ball was ready to go it was really rusted and noisy. i think my co-work said that the oil leaks and the radiator too. I just recently changed out the radiator because the old one had a 4 inch long crack on the side and that was where the coolant was leaking from.
So this is where my first question as a explorer noobie starts. Ok so i went to replace the radiator i took out the fan and the shroud then the belt and finally the radiator itself. When i put everything back on i filled it with water so i can flush it out and drain it but when i go to start the car i get no crank all i hear is a click i have a new battery new alternator what could be the problem. Ive driven the car plenty times before this and this is the firsttime it has done this. Can somebody plz tell me why it is doing this? does changing the radiator had anything to do with it????????????????????:(

Welcome to the site.

hmm the battery's fine just bought it new couple weeks ago... when i go to turn the car on the instument lights they dont even dim

you drained the battery some how. charge it up and you'll be good to go

ok i tried to jump the car but that also didnt work could it be the starters not working?

You can try hitting the starter with a hammer while someone else tries to start it

ok i tried to hammer the starter while starting the car that alsom didnt work i still get that one click what else is there for me to do?

i think i might just need to get a new starter and i am already in the process of taking the starter out but i ran into a problem its so cramp down there i cant even get to the wires to disconnect it. it looks like i think it may be the transfer case is in the way is there an easier way to take out the starter?
