Hi all from a damp Perth Western Australia.

We are in the depths of our winter, which means 3 degree celcius mornings and a rain front coming through about once a week.

I purchased my 98 Explorer at auction in March this year. Had to have the motor out and all the timing chains, guides etc replaced. The motor runs smooth, quiet and powerful now.

a full autotrans service was done after the motor went back in. Apparently there is a small leakage from the main rear seal, and the transmission fluid has been dosed with two containers of Nulon Auto-transmission leak stop, to soften the seals. This seems to be working ok.

I have taken her into the bush about 350 kilometres south of Perth these last two weekends. The ride on rough tracks was pretty unpleasant. The shocks are original and the Explorer is at 140,000 kilometres. Maybe I need to replace them?

The other annoying items that I've discovered (will get around to fixing after I have done some searching around the threads) are...

1) Front right stereo speaker is not working.
2) Intermittant bearing noise in the front left wheel hub.
3) Rear wiper occassionlly works.
4) Indicator-Lights connection on the trailer hitch is not working.
5) The spare tyre is a Bridgestone and is unused. The others (not Bridgestone) are over 50% worn and could be replaced.

If I can't find existing threads for the above, and I am sure they will be there, I may post some new ones for advice.

Happy motoring
