My first post: Wondering about a purchase...

I have a chance to get a nice deal (price) on a 1997 Ford Explorer. The body looks real nice and it's his daily-driver but he says the front drive-shaft is out and he thinks it's because of u-joints. Is that a major problem?

Apparently the front driveshaft has been out for some time. He also said it's a V8 motor. I like what I see but is there any major issues with a ride like this? He said it has 208.000 miles but it's running very good (he said).

If it's just U-joints it's not a big deal, but if there are actually problems with the transfer case, that's another story.

208,000 is pretty high. At that point just about anything can be the next thing to go, but if it's running well now and the price is good it may be a good find.
