My New X

My New X - updated 2-15-04

A couple weeks ago my 91 XLT started going downhill. I decided I would rather get a nicer newer one than fix the ugly, rusty, spray painted truck I had.

I found my 94 one night on a midnight car lot run, and decided to look at it the next day. I got financed miraculously without credit, and bought it the day after I drove it.

It's in really nice shape, there are a few scratches in the paint and a piece of trim on the driver side needs to be reglued. I'm going to replace the muffler, mine has a hole in it and makes a funny sound. Otherwise, it's in perfect shape.

It runs really well and is really clean inside, no rips or tears. It has tan interior and the cool lumbar support seats with power adjustment. It also has a sunroof which is a nice addition.

I was allowed to keep my rims and 31 inch tires, so I had them mounted on the 94. It looks alright for now, but eventually I want to get some chrome 15X8 Modular wheels.

Other plans are a 3 or 4 inch lift, brush guard, safari basket, and 32 or 33 inch tires. It might take a while to get all the stuff though, with a new monthly payment taking a nice chunk of my pay. I will probably be able to get a lift kit and maybe the new rims with my tax return though, so that will be out of the way soon.

donlt know if i am a fan of the black spray paint but everything else looks great. also did you take the wheels off so you didnlt paint the brakes

I painted the rims while they were on my last Explorer... So yeah the paint got on the brakes... didn't seem to affect them though, they didn't start giving me trouble till around the 2nd of this month... the shaking from the front stopped one day... That's also the day I figured out that the reason the front end wasn't shaking was because the front end wasn't braking

Black kinda works for this one, but like I said I'm going with chrome when I have the money...

Actually... I seriously considered chrome spray paint... I really like the rock crawler rims, but I can't find any in chrome. But I don't want to go cheap with this truck, so I'm just going to get some already chrome rims...

Well, I changed my mind about the rims... I went down to Peerless Tyre today and held up the chrome rims and the black rock crawler rims next to my X, and decided to go with the rock crawler look alikes It looks pretty sweet... And with the chrome center caps and lugnuts, I can still say I have chrome on my rims

I'll get some pics taken tomorrow, I have to go get ready for work right now...

2 inch suspension lift and shocks are on the way, I'll probably get them in next weekend or so.

And some custom storage boxes I built... They don't go over the wheel wells quite as well as I thought they would, but they're still nice... When I put carpet on them, I'll just cut the carpet to fit and no one will ever know
