My speedometer is jumping, and the transmission is shifting erratically.

trans has been rebuilt, new speed control senser,. and now the trans wants jump in and out of o/d and the speedo wants to jump around or not work at all. my trans man is bafulled...??? can anyone help with this problem? P.S. the tourqe converter was replaced as well ..thnx for your help.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the stock 95-01 section. Does this happen when you tilt the steering column? I saw the same thing written in WWW.GearsMagazine.Com about a Ford motorhome with an intermittent erratic shift, speedometer going crazy at hightway speeds, and cruise control dropping out. It turned out that there was pierced insulation in the steering column which got intermittently shorted when the vehicle was operating at highway speeds.

no tilt steering, but will also drop out of gear or hi rev. o/d jumps in and out. also replace o/d button on gearshift

Take a look at a schematic diagram of the speed sensor circuit. It's possible that there might be an intermittent short somewhere.
