Hey guys (fyi i have a jbl in my 96limited);
Last winter i started my explorer during (-40 C) weather and my stereo was blasting from the day before ( it was warmer the day before). This did a number on my factory sub woofer and i believe blew it. The strange part is that it comes on and off like there is a bad connection (sometimes closing the trunk will connect or disconnect it) but when it is on it is definetly blown (sounds very distorted). I was wondering if someone can speculate as to what i need to replace (sub +amp or just sub?) I seen a 99 EB enclosure, amp, and sub for sale (http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1747866&posted=1#post1747866) and wondering if i could just swap that in? I know that it is 8" but from reading the forums i believe i have a 6.5"? I dont have a whole lot of time (university student) or proper location (living in a condo) to take apart my exporer and experiment with what is working or not working...(I can install components when i go home for holidays although) so i need someone to tell me what to do to get tunage again! (easiest, cheapest <$200, and i was perfectly happy with factory setup)

well the subs from any year should be interchangable. mtx audio also offers a kit for explorers with a 10 in. sub that fits in the stock location if you're looking for an upgrade.
