I got the same exact subs only in 12" (check my cardomain at the bottom of this post), in my 98. I think they hit pretty hard and have pretty decent quality. But you are getting tons of rattle out of that tailgate. Notice it only rattled once you put the gate down, which probably means something in or on the gate is rattling. The only other thing is that it is deflecting the sound back causing something to rattle. If I where you, I would buy a roll or two of dynamat (or you could use b-quite extreme. it is the same thing but much cheeper. just google it). Take the plastic off of the gate and stick it to the metal or you might be able to get away with sticking it to the plastic (i am not completely sure about sticking it directly to the plastic). This will knock some of that rattling down.

the rattling only happens with my windows up, which is rare.

Thanks though. :)

Not really with your windows up the pressure is keep inside, that's way the rattling happens when your windows are down pressure gets out.

i

if your windows rattle only when they're up then something is wrong you need to make sure your windows are in tight.. mine rattle more when down... because the top is loose.. thats why they rattle only have 3 points of contact.

Alot of systems/vehicles create more pressure with the window down alittle or a door slightly opened. The vehicle itself acts like a box and the windows or door you have cracked in the port. Have you ever been to a sound off and seen people compete with the windows cracked or a door slightly opened? Just because all the doors and windows are closed doesn't mean more pressure.

If you get a rattle with the doors closed at high volume the head liner is probably hitting the roof. I experienced the same thing. You can try to slide some 1/2" or so foam padding in there. Or there is a brace in the roof that runs across almost on top of the head of the driver you can drill some hole and put a couple of those factory colored like ths ones hold up the headliner in the back.

Nice, I used to use a punch hx2 back when they came out. I had about 1k going to mine and it was good to go.

I reccommend upgrading the door speaks too.
