I replaced the alternator in my 99 mountaineer. I checked the voltage from the alternator it's 12 plus. It's starts right up the light is still on and it dies after about 10 minutes of driving.

Welcome to the forum! The battery voltage should be somewhere around 13.5 volts with the alternator charging at summer temperatures. A voltage of a little over 12 sounds as if it isn't charging. Most auto parts stores will do a free battery/alternator test, in hopes of selling you something.

Hope this helps.

Battery isn't charging or holding. My daily temps are 95+ and I'll get a charging reading of 14 or higher.

hey, even if the batteryu was bad it should still run on the alternator for a bit, or until you want to increase the rpm above idle,

check all the connections to the battery , than get both tested, autozone will test both for you , like was said , in hope of selling you something,,,

It does run on the ALT for a bit. Corkey is right too, check your connections,ALL of them.

You said you checked your charging voltage @ 12 or so, so I assume you have a meter. Let it run a bit, disconnect everything on the batt and measure your volt drop after 30 minutes.
