96 XLT
A couple of months ago, the air conditioning in my 96 XLT stopped working. I discovered the problem was the blower motor, because the rear AC vents blew air and only the front vents didnt. I replaced the relays, checked the fuses, and still couldnt get power to the blower motor. So I have been dealing with no AC in sunny florida!

Today I was playing around with the rear AC controls, and I must have bumped something because the AC vents in the front started shooting out air, I got excited thinking it was fixed, but an hour later I couldnt get the vents to blow air in the front.

So my question is, Wheres the problem and what should I do? My dad thinks maybe it's a switch and the contacts are bad but I have no idea.

ANY help would be great, im desperate and I feel like im so close but so far away.

thanks guys

Could it be that your blend door in the plenum chamber under the glove compartment is broken? I'm not sure if the blend door has anything to do with the AC, but it has a lot to do with regulating the temperature of the air coming out of the vents...and the blend door is a common breakage problem.

Being in FL you prolly don't use your heater very much. Check to see if you're getting the right amount of heated/cold air coming out of the vents. If not, you've got a blend door problem...easy and inexpensive to fix...I think there's a sticky on this.

It could be something with the switch - did you take of the bezel and check out the switches and wires?

Also, a common problem is the blower motor resistor failing - based on how it started working again I doubt this is your problem though.

I dont think it could be the blend door because im not getting any air movement at all.

hworksinc, once i remove the bezel what am i looking for on the switch? will it be fairly obvious that theres a problem?

Thanks again guys
