Mystery part

Any one have a clue what the name of this part is? The one that the lime green arrow is pointing to. 2002 Ford explorer. Freon is leaking out of the hole on top of it and i can't find the part.

That is the high pressure relief valve. (rupture disc)

They are designed as a back-up in the event the electric high pressure cut off switch fails, and the pressure exceeds 300psi. (to prevent a catastrophic and dangerous blow out)

They can fail over time even though the pressure is within limits.

If it's leaking at the base it is just the o-ring. You can just unscrew it and replace the o-ring.

WARNING: Do not remove until the system is evacuated of the refrigerant. (not under pressure)

300 psi dang.... I would get a set of guages hooked up asap.
